Infinite Loops: November '24 Update

01-11-2024

Stable app, new album, composer mode and a new price

We’re excited to announce that the Odio refactor is complete. Well, as complete as software ever is! We believe this version is mature enough to serve as a solid foundation for further development of the Odio experience (famous last words…).

Refactor

Our app was completely rebuilt with the support of Joannis, Robbert, and Luc from Unbeatable Software, who are now our partners in this endeavor.

This refactor is like a fresh start for Odio. The app now runs on the Composable Architecture framework. If you’re interested in the technical details, reach out to the team at Unbeatable Software—they’ll be happy to tell you all about it (hey, I’m just a designer).

This update gives us the flexibility to introduce new experiences and features, aiming for more frequent releases and shorter development cycles.

Composer

Along with the refactor, we’re soft-launching Composer Mode. With it, you can import or record your own sounds to create unique spatial soundscapes. We’re working on several tutorials, but we think Composer is intuitive enough for you to get started right away.

To enable it, open the Odio preferences sheet, toggle the “Enable Odio Composer” option, and voilà—you’ll see a new option in the main interface.

Opening Composer presents you with a blank canvas ready to be filled with your own soundscapes. Here’s how it works:

  1. Create a new project
  2. Add a new soundscape
  3. Import or record sounds
  4. Arrange those in your soundscape
  5. Spatial audio bliss

Once your soundscape is complete, you can share it with other Odio listeners by exporting your project and letting them import it into their Odio Composer.

We’ll continue enhancing Composer over the coming months, so we’d love to hear your feedback!

Note: Odio Composer is a feature for supporting members, so a subscription is required.

New album release

We’re thrilled to release new work from the talented artist Rutger Muller. Inspired by nature and urban sounds, his album, Wabi-Sabi, brings the tranquil and dynamic worlds of nature to life. Many of you have requested more nature-based soundscapes, and this album perfectly captures that vibe. Wabi-Sabi by Rutger Muller is now available on Odio.

Favorite track: Abandoned Baseball Court—a perfect immersive backdrop for deep dev or design work.

New price!

We’re offering a discount on our yearly subscription. For just $19.99, you can enjoy all of Odio’s soundscapes for a full 12 months—that’s less than $2 a month! So why wait? Become a supporting member and immerse yourself in our world of spatial soundscapes.
